When I Think of Sarah
Your mother loved the beach. She would go every chance that she could, even when the sun wasn't really out at all and we were all bundled up in sweatshirts. She thought the sound of the ocean was the most soothing sound in the world. She could sit in her chair by the water all day. She loved to bundle you up as a baby and take you to South Beach. She had a little tent to keep you from getting too much sun. How she ever managed to carry all that stuff down to the shore I will never know, but I will always be thinking of her when I am near the ocean.

Remembering Susan

I met your mother when she was assigned to be my roomate in college - I could not believe that she had never seen the ocean.  She loved the Beatles, especially Paul and she played Yesterday over and over again, until the neighbors started to complain.  She loved the lilacs blooming in the Spring and the first fall of snow.  I think that is how I will always remember her - running out onto the lawn as the first flakes started to fall.

Easter Parade - Believe it or not they really have an Easter Sunday Parade on Fifth Avenue - I'm not quite sure what year this picture was taken - but I would say it was about 1970 - and it was an unseasonably warm day - The tulips had started poking up through the ground on the Park Avenue islands - and your mother (on the left) and I joined the parade for a couple of blocks after church. She was kind of a pesty little sister and I think I took her for granted probably more than I should have - I find myself missing her every day.
